Hello Readers,
I’m so happy you’re here.
I had a blast at the Women in Publishing Conference, and Alexa, the mastermind behind WIP, reached out to me recently to ask if I wanted to give a follow-up workshop on Substack.
I said yes!
I’m hosting a 2-part workshop in May specifically for authors who want to grow their mailing list and engage their audience in a more meaningful way.
🗓️ Schedule Overview:
Day 1: Substack Setup & Launch (May 7th 10am-12pm US Eastern)
Duration: 2.5 hours
Focus: Getting started with Substack — from account setup to your first post
Style: Teaching + implementation time + Q&A
🗓️ Day 2: Optimization & Growth Strategies (May 14th: 2:30-4:30 pm US Eastern)
Duration: 2.5 hours
Focus: How to grow your Substack consistently
Style: Teaching + examples + live reviews + implementation/Q&A
Here’s my talk from the WIP conference
I think this gives you more context around the upcoming workshop!
Alexa and I wanted to make sure this workshop was practical and hands-on, so you feel confident about using Substack as part of your author platform. I think a lot of folks struggle with technical things like setting up their Substack in a way that works for them.
So, for the two-day workshop…
I’ll walk you through setting up your account, migrating your email list, and building a newsletter strategy that’s actually sustainable.
I’ll also cover audience growth and monetization (but I’m not going too deeply into monetization, it’ll mostly focus on growth).
Listen to my podcast with Alexa
I recorded a podcast episode about why Substack has become my go-to platform as a writer. It happens to tie nicely with the workshop. I was very excited to see that it finally aired (today)!
The podcast is less about the tech and more about the why—how it’s helped me share personal stories, connect with readers, and stay consistent without feeling burned out. I talk about what makes Substack different from traditional blogs and newsletters, and why it might be a good fit if you’re tired of chasing algorithms on social media.
I also open up about finally turning on paid subscriptions and how I’ve been able to grow my audience organically by showing up as myself.
Hope to see you there!
