When you want to take that knitting class, write poetry, learn how to code, but juuust can’t get yourself to start. For me, it was podcasting. Here are a few eye-openers from starting something new.
Tarot podcasts! Haven’t heard of that one before. I hear you on the anxiety topic. Mel robbins talks about anxiety a lot on her podcast and has some wonderful professionals as guests. :)
Excited to share your episode next week! I definitely got overwhelmed at first, so initially started with recording conversations on Google Meet with people I was already talking to. Trying Riverside for my next iteration, and maybe that will be the push to get me onto Spotify and Apple!
I’ve tried podcasting, but I don’t like it. Maybe a conversation, storyteller-way of sharing someone else’s life experiences. That would may be enjoyable, but. I don’t want to anymore. 🤷🏽♀️
Yeah, I know podcasting isn't for everyone, and it's a lot work. The research, prepping before the recording, then the editing, adding show notes, etc. It's great that you at least recognize something you don't enjoy. Thanks for reading my post, JJ. :)
I can relate to all of this! I went through this when I started a business podcast 3 years ago - it took me forever to just do it but once I did, I had so much fun with it and it was actually pretty successful! I only recorded the podcast for 2 years but I learned so much and got to have great conversations with so many interesting people. Now I feel the same way about Substack sometimes! What I writer about now (childhood trauma and C-PTSD) have nothing to do with my work as a copywriter, so there's a huge learning curve. But it's challenging and fun, so I keep chugging along. Good luck as you continue on with the podcast! You'll treasure these recordings!
Oh, and check out Descript software - super easy editing!
Wow, thanks Christy! I have never heard of Descript. Will definitely check it out.
Congrats on your podcast business! Two years is plenty of time to learn, especially when part of the job is having interesting and compelling conversations with people! :) You're amazing!
I love listening to podcasts. And this post is very relatable.
What kind of podcasts do you listen to? Thanks for reading Lindsey! 🙂
I listen to onbeing w krista Tippett, tarot podcasts, and pods about anxiety & parenting kids w anxiety 😂

Tarot for the wild soul is my favorite but there are lots. I will look up Mel robbins- thanks!
I’ll really listen to anything though - except maybe true crime. lol.

Keep me posted on how riverside goes. I may need to try descript. 🤓
